KICK4LIFE GALA IN NYC TO CHANGE LIVES THROUGH SOCCER

Influencers from fashion, finance and entertainment will join well-known sports stars at the 2017 Kick4Life Gala in New York City for an evening of entertainment, raising funds for the charity Kick4Life.

The Gala will take place on Thursday November 2 at the exquisite Midtown Loft & Terrace in Manhattan. It will be hosted by Mike Geddes – formerly of BBC Sport, with star guest 2008 Olympic All-Around Individual Gymnastic Gold medallist Nastia Liukin in attendance.

The event will raise funds for Kick4Life’s life changing work with orphans and vulnerable in the Mountain kingdom of Lesotho in Southern Africa. The charity uses soccer to engage youth in an intensive and holistic program of health, education, character development and football coaching, with the end goal of supporting beneficiaries to fully funded scholar-athlete scholarships at universities in the USA.

The evening will include a terrace drinks reception, an exquisite three-course dinner provided by Ayza Wine & Chocolate Restaurant, and live and silent auctions with stunning prizes including exclusive tickets to VIP sporting experiences (NFL, NHL, NBA, MLS) and theatre events, and signed sporting memorabilia including gloves signed by former World Heavyweight Champion, Evander Holyfield. Guests will be entertained with live music from South African pop singer Binx Buys and British artist Coyle Girelli, with graduates from Kick4Life taking to the stage to tell their incredible stories.

Kick4Life Co-founder, Pete Fleming, said: "We are thrilled to be hosting such an auspicious event in New York City, raising funds for our life-changing work with disadvantaged youth in Africa through the power of soccer. The proceeds from the night will enable us to provide an excellent education for these young people, supporting them to obtain scholarships at Schools and Colleges in the USA, and to become future leads of sustainable development and social change in their country.”

Lesotho has the world’s second highest prevalence of HIV (23.2%) and more than 160,000 children have been orphaned. Since Kick4Life launched in 2005, over 100,000 young people have taken part in health education and life skills programming with over 1,000 engaged in wider support. Based at the Lesotho Football for Hope Centre – a hub of social and economic development in Maseru, Lesotho’s capital – Kick4Life is committed to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to build a better future for themselves and for their country.

In addition to the core programming Kick4Life has successfully launched a number of social enterprises in Lesotho that generate income for the charity’s work as well as providing structured training and employment for young people. This includes No.7 Restaurant and K4L Hotel & conference Centre.
