FIFA Foundation, Generation Amazing & Qatar Foundation announce partnership

April 1, 2022

This week, the FIFA Foundation announced a partnership with Generation Amazing (GA) and the Qatar Foundation (QF) to deliver a range of football initiatives to empower youth and communities in Qatar ahead of this year's World Cup.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated, “to be able to positively impact society through the power of football is a shared goal and responsibility between each of our organizations, and using sport to reach the next generation is something all three places at the forefront of everything they do.”

As part of the agreement, the group will roll out the Football for Schools (F4S) program across Qatar. Run by FIFA in collaboration with UNESCO since 2019, the initiative contributes to the education, development and empowerment of around 700 million children globally, and seeks to makes football more accessible to boys and girls by incorporating football activities into education systems.

FAS promotes targeted life skills and competencies through football, while also contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other priorities. It also provides a free digital application to help and support coaches, teachers and parents with F4S activities in their schools and communities. Both QF and GA contributed to the inclusivity and sustainability modules, which include guidance on promoting regenerative education and accessibility.

Some description

Following the Doha Forum, where the partnership launched, QF and GA hosted an event at the Generation Amazing Community Hub, just a short distance away from the stadium set to hold the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final on December 18. 80 school children from across the country participated in the event featuring football and education activities with FIFA Foundation CEO Youri Djorkaeff and football legends Australian Tim Cahill (Australia) and Nigel de Jong (Netherlands).

Grounded in a shared vision of social inclusion and cohesion, the partners will develop sport education activities to build human capital and skills regionally and globally with a goal to "leave a meaningful human and social legacy in the region and beyond."

“Hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is a momentous occasion for our nation, and for the region as a whole," noted Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation. "Working alongside our partners, FIFA Foundation and Generation Amazing, we are harnessing the power of football to affect positive change among young people and promote social progress that stretches beyond the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022."
