Exciting News from Beyond Sport!

Beginning January 2021, Fred Turner will become Executive Director of Beyond Sport. Fred – who has been a part of Beyond Sport for 10 years – currently serves as Director of Programming and Development, leading partnerships, programming and funding initiatives, galvanizing and supporting groups to commit to action around the most pressing social issues of our time. 

Our current Managing Director Lex Chalat is shifting her role to become Global Advisor to Beyond Sport and a member of the Board of Directors where she will continue to support in informing the vision of Beyond Sport and advise on the various initiatives she helped to build during her tenure.


Lex joined Beyond Sport the year it was Founded by our CEO Nick Keller in 2008. "Our team was small but mighty!" And for more than a decade, she played a key role in the growth and direction of the organization, as well as co-founding our sister agency, thinkBeyond. With passion and expertise on unique catalysts for social change, she will be joining the Qatar Foundation to lead up its Legacy strategy for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.  

“It has been an honor and a dream to be part of Beyond Sport’s journey all these years. No day or year has ever been the same and I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of amazing people, organizations and groups all around the world. I look forward to supporting the sector in my new role,” Lex Chalat said.

“And, having worked with Fred for nearly 10 years, I know that with him at the helm and supporting our CEO we will see Beyond Sport continue to grow, evolve and respond to the world’s most timely issues through sport.” 

The Beyond Sport team couldn’t be happier for Lex and Fred. In January, Fred will be sharing Beyond Sport’s plans for 2021 and beyond. Stay tuned!
