Register for Beyond Sport's Virtual Development Series Event

In honor of February's Black History Month (US and Canada), Beyond Sport is hosting the second installment of our Development Series – this time with a focus on Black youth. Taking place Thursday, February 22, the interactive, virtual event is open to all and will explore best practice in creating equitable opportunities for youth through play and sport.

We launched our interactive Development Series last October as a place for sport for social change leaders to come together, share their inspirations and collaborate on solutions to shared challenges. It it also provides nonprofits with a platform to build professional networks and stay up to date on latest practices and opportunities in sport for development. 

Beyond Sport is proud to have five experts in sports-based youth development – particularly in working with Black youth – sharing their experiences on advancing representation and creating pathways to leadership. Attendees will leave with practical ways to approach these issues within their organizations, and also have the opportunity to ask questions.

Monete Johnson, Senior Program Manager at Uncommon Schools, as well as a program strategist, certified coach and facilitator will moderate and speak at the session. With over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, she is passionate about creating equitable and data-driven programs and initiatives that empower learning, self-reflection and innovation for leaders.

Joining Ms. Johnson is Raheem Logan, Squash and Fitness Director at Access Youth Academy, Sean Ndebele, Founder and Consultant of Phambili Sport Impact, Alesha Smith, Director at PeacePlayers and Jhae Thompson, Executive Director of Hit the Books.
