Beyond Sport House from Home Part 2: Collective Impact

November 11-12, 2020

November 6, 2020

From attendees getting an inside look into how professional sports teams went 'Beyond the Vote' to support civic engagement around the US election, to Beyond Sport Global Awards Shortlisters engaging with audience members on how they are delivering to their communities in new ways, Part 1 of Beyond Sport House from Home had it all.

Next week, Part 2 of the virtual series moves on to an exploration of Collective Impact. It is a powerful tool, but what does it actually mean and how is it developing in the sport and social change sector?

On November 11, Stronger Together will focus on just that with challenges, successes and ideas from the field. Leaders from The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, Laureus Sport for Good, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and Women in Soccer will help us evaluate the power of collective efforts in creating wide ranging, community-based solutions. As Ian Heininger, CEO of 2020 Shortlister Charity Bounce shared from his Global Ambassador Tracy Williams: “it doesn’t matter if you win as a player if you’re team is losing.”

Following the discussion, representatives from the University of Chicago Crime Lab and Education Lab, the Sport for Development Coalition and Fight for Peace will present their experiences in leveraging sport as part of successful collaborations. Participants can choose from case studies on collective approaches to Social Justice in Chicago, to Influencing Policy with the NGO community across the UK or Building Safer Communities in Jamaica, and will have the opportunity to discuss with, and question the presenters.

On November 12, candid discussions on what does and doesn’t work will provide the opportunity to get honest about Collaborating for the Future. Over the past year, the 2019 Beyond Sport Collective Impact Award Winners have collaborated on sport’s role in addressing Climate Action and Reducing Inequalities. During this session, we will share their key findings, successes and the opportunities ahead.

Continuing on, House attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to our 2020 Collective Impact Award focuses on Sport for Gender Equality and Reduced Racial Inequalities. During ideation sessions, attendees will input and share thoughts on what the sector needs most to be able to collectively and collaboratively address these crucial issues. Ideas from this session will be taken on board across the next year as the Winners work together toward a common outcome and contribute to the wider sport community.

Breakout sessions will close out Part 2, with the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox Foundation, Boston Celtics, Boston Pride and the New England Revolution highlighting what it takes to work together in the same city on key social issues, while Hong Kong Rugby Union addresses how teams can work better with partners in their cities.

Delivered in tight two-hour sessions, each day of Beyond Sport House from Home will expand your knowledge and unearth solutions to drive social change to reach your – and the world’s – goals. Attendees also have the opportunity to host their own meetings, network with fellow attendees and navigate our virtual Expo using our people-centric Hopin platform. And, all new and existing registrants, will have access to Part 1 and 2 recordings to catch up on anything that might have been missed.

One pass gives you the keys to all Beyond Sport House From Home sessions, so don’t wait, learn more and register today (general and NGO passes available)!
