This past Monday, in celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, Beyond Sport officially launched the 2020 Beyond Sport Global Awards.
In its 12th year, the Awards will celebrate, support, raise awareness and provide funding for ways sport is being used to help make the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a reality via the Beyond Sport Foundation. Applications are open through May 27.
You can get started on your application here.
Beyond Sport is proud to support these life-changing organizations around the world using the power of sport to improve their communities in the face of adversity. With our sector suffering as play is put on pause, now more than ever we need to uplift the sport-for-development community.
Since 2009, the Awards have enabled Beyond Sport to support over 300 organizations, providing $2.1 million in funding and more than $8.5 million in long-term strategic support. The Winners and Shortlisters will receive a wide range of benefits including a comprehensive business support package; recognition and exposure across Beyond Sport’s global platforms and through the media; and cash grants for the winning organizations.
This year's Awards are broken down into six different categories, each focusing on one of the UN Global Goals:
- The Health and Well-being Award (Global Goal 3)
- The Decent Work and Economic Growth Award (Global Goal 8)
- The Reduced Inequalities Award (Global Goal 10)
- The Innovation and Tech Award (Global Goal 12)
- The Life Below Water Award (Global Goal 14)
