Amplifying Sport with Intention

September 18, 2020

On Monday, we were thrilled to announce our 2020 Beyond Sport Global Awards campaign and the 16 shortlisted organizations from 36 countries who are using more than 25 sports to help make the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a reality. On this 5th anniversary of the SDGs - during a year like no other - they are exemplifying sport for social change.

“Our communities have always sought to face up to challenges and seek solutions, but no one could ever have imagined the additional complexities that this year would bring. Against this context, it is even more impressive that these programs continue to deliver impact across the world, changing lives and holding communities together,” said Nick Keller, Beyond Sport President and Founder.

“The Beyond Sport Foundation is humbled and grateful for the opportunity to elevate these leaders that seek to use sport to improve people’s lives for the better.”

We kicked off our first-ever Awards storytelling campaign with the words and work of our four shortlisters who are using sport to Reduce Inequalities (Goal 10) in the Ukraine, Brazil, Kenya and Cambodia, and just a few days into the campaign, they are providing the hope and inspiration we could all use right now with more to come.

Through early December, we will also be sharing the stories of the twelve standout organizations embodying Sport For: Health & Well-Being (Goal 3), Decent Work & Economic Growth (Goal 8) and Peace & Social Justice (Goal 16) - all in the lead up to the exciting Winner Reveal.

In November, we will also announce the winners and shortlisters encompassing The Sport For Gender Equality Collective Impact Award supported by Comic Relief and The BT Supporter’s Club, The Sport For Reduced Racial Inequalities Collective Impact Award supported by The DICK’s Sporting Goods Foundation and the Courageous Use of Sport Award supported by WWE.

You also have the opportunity to dive deeper into the issues, expand your knowledge and engage on the issues that concern us all at Beyond Sport House from Home. This year, the three-part virtual series will take place across five targeted, one to two hour sessions including our Awards shortlisters and representatives from across the sport, business and development sectors.
