BARCLAYS UNVEILS WHEELS FOR CHANGE

Wheels for Change 2015, an annual Barclays employee-led fundraising cycling challenge, begins this week with its launch event in London. The event aims to boost the fundraising efforts of the hundreds of participants with an auction, which has raised thousands of pounds in previous years.

Since the challenge started in 2011 more than £1m has been raised for charity.

This year’s cycling challenge will see employees from Barclays and the event’s sponsors take on elements of the 2014 Tour de France route through a number of 100km+ cycling routes across the UK this September, in aid of The Prince’s Trust.

The Prince’s Trust, one of Barclays’ UK charity partners, helps young people to develop key skills, confidence and motivation to move into employment, education or training through programmes that provide practical and financial support. The Prince’s Trust specifically focuses on 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed, struggling at school or at risk of exclusion.

Barclays works with organisations such as The Prince’s Trust to support young people and help them to build stronger futures for themselves and their families. This is part of Barclays’ Citizenship strategy – helping the next generation achieve their ambitions.

A complementary event is also taking place in Singapore, raising money for three local organisations; the Singapore Disability Sports Council, Rainbow Centre and Bizlink Centre.
