More about Trentham Fields
Trentham Fields was completed in 2008, and provides 5 high quality grass pitches and a new home for Longton RUFC. The relocation allowed the Club to grow its junior and establish a ladies team because of the improved facilities in a more accessable location. The rugby club raised ?1.35m to allow a clubhouse to be established on the site. The money came from the sale of the Club's previous site [?500k] and the balance from Sport England, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, The Staffs Environmental Fund and The Rugby Football Foundation.
In 2007, Barclays Spaces for Sports approved a grant to instal a Artificial Turf Pitch and a £50k revenue grant over two years to fund a sports development post . This post has been successful in developing the usage of both the ATP and the grass pitches for both rugby and football. However, building a business of the size of Trentham Fields from a standing start by an amateur organisation and in an area already highly deprived but now in a deep recession is a huge challenge. This submission is seeking financial support to help us sustain this wonderful facility in challenging times.
