More about The Sports Philanthropy Project
SPP has worked in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to bring the resources of professional sports to bear on critical public health issues ranging from increasing access to free and low-cost health care for uninsured children and their families, to reducing the incidence of childhood obesity. SPP has worked with teams, athletes, and others within the sports industry to develop innovative sports programs that reach for benchmarks beyond developing sports stars or love of the game – such as increasing activity and overall fitness for youth.
We’ve also successfully recruited sports partners to support public awareness campaigns that have brought attention to important issues such as increasing access to free and low-cost health insurance for those who need it. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that ALL of America’s children live in communities and attend schools where being physically active and eating healthy foods is the norm, not the exception. By leveraging our unique expertise and network, and by identifying, supporting and engaging those who harness the power of sports to change lives, SPP aims to ensure that our next generation of children is the fittest and healthiest of all.
