More about The Blue Climate and Oceans Project, including The Blue Mile - Race for the Environment, mass participation event.
BLUE works with world-class sports men and women who share their experiences, passion for the environment and commitment to healthy living with the wider community. BLUE channels this content to build digital learning and engagement programmes through social media and mass participation events, designed to achieve measurable social, environmental and economic outcomes (3BL).
BLUE’s short-medium goals are to continue to build partnerships with sports organisations; to activate a network of champions that will lead their communities to promote sport, healthy living and a clean environment and to deliver The Blue Mile, a new mass participation event designed to engage people actively with our water environment. Interaction between the core components of BLUE drive the cycle of behaviour change:
- Blue Ambassadors provide sports leadership, champion action on the environment, guide and endorse behaviours and values
- Social Media draws together community with shared interests and values and empowers people to become leaders and champions in their own right
- Mass Participation Events provide inclusive access for people from all walks of life to experience the rewards of sport and activity in the BLUE environment
- Experiential Learning: sustains awareness , develops understanding and deepens engagement with the BLUE environment.
