More about Tacklegirl-child
Tacklegirl-child is a project that promotes social development through soccer, in vulnerable neighbourhoods in Kisumu city. To achieve this goal, the project has three components: 1) Three soccer tournaments a year with the participation of 24 - 28 schools, organizations and sports clubs from different localities in the country and almost 5000 children and adolescent from 8 to 25 years old; 2) Training, Empowering and capacity building to players, community based organizations clubs and their social change; 3) Raising awareness about football as a tool for development through promotion and communication actions.
The main strategies developed to achieve these goals are: networking among participants and with other stakeholders within each neighbourhood; as well as the rebuilding of communitarian bonds and promotion of values. Football is one of the most popular sports in the world, and particularly in poor neighbourhoods it is the most favourite activity in which kids and adults get involved. We use football as a tool to create opportunities to the most vulnerable population and to address problems such violence, addictions, social exclusion, HIV/AIDS, lack of education, etc
