More about Sunderland Kickz
Sunderland Kickz is based at the Seaburn Centre and has developed into several strands, all with the aim of trying to move young people from the margins to active citizenship. The aim is to engage young people in a range of sporting and educational activities by providing a safe and familiar environment where participants feel comfortable to challenge and develop themselves. Kickz:
- Creates a safe and positive environment
- Provides supportive structures and signposting opportunities
- Provides access to good citizenship and volunteer opportunities
- Develop pathways to education, learning, skill’s development and training
- Consistently engages young people in its developments
In November 2008, the Kickz project expanded to Chester-le-Street in County Durham, where a drop-in centre in a shopping precinct was officially opened, funded by the Cestria Housing Group. Main activities delivered by the project are football, other sports, health workshops, tournaments, match day experiences, accreditation, issue and project work, trips and new experiences.
