More about Sports Participation, Health, Social Inclusion, Education and Community Facility Development
Watford Football Club uses the power of sport to place itself at the heart of its community. This is achieved through its Community Trust (Registered Charity). The Trust tackles a range of social issues including healthy living, obesity, mental health, disabilities, learning difficulties, community cohesion (including inequalities), gangs, guns and knife crime, anti-social behavior and youth crime, low educational attainment levels, deprivation and poverty, inter-generational issues, a lack of community/youth facilities and unemployment.
One particular success we have experience is our MyPlace project, in partnership with Harrow Council we submitted an government funding application and have secured a capital grant of ?4 million to re-development a run youth and community centre into a world class facility. This project is tackling the main issue of a lack of usable facility in the North London Borough of Harrow which will result in a facility fit to tackle all of the social issues listed previously.
