More about Sports for Education Savings Fund

In order to improve academic access, performance and transition of children from primary to tertiary education, CREATA initiated a community driven Sports for Education Fund referred in Kiswahili to as Michezo na Elimu Savings Fund that would enable poor parents to access and transit their children to tertiary education through ease and fun.

MESF is a community driven savings scheme which aims to promote sports and education, whereby football is used for training life skills and creating safe spaces for learning as parents engage in saving money for school fees for their children.

Specifically, football is used to train life skills such as listening skills, discipline, reproductive health, child rights, child protection etc. Such values and skills are important qualities for child’s performance in both academics life in general. Football is also used to mobilize community to support child education through savings. Education Day is held each year to award school fees, academic performance and sports.
MESF uses mobile phone technology making savings fun and achievable. While Life skills education is done in the field using football, Funds are collected and managed through mobile
