More about Social Re-Integration Through Soccer
One of the most challenging issues for Colombia has been the reinsertion of illegal combatant and displaced citizens into civil society. These individuals and their families, whose lives were torn by conflict, often return to vulnerable communities. Futbol con Corazon has worked hand in hand with government (Alta Consejeria Para La Reintegracion) private and public entities to help in this process. The “soccer for peace” methodology, which permeates our extra-curricular program, is a conflict management tool. Our life skills workshops teach the underlying values and themes that help children become agents of their own destiny, able over time to articulate and moderate their emotions, their problems, and find appropriate mechanisms to solve problems.
