More about Shape the Community Sport Development Program
The TTOC believes that involvement in sport and physical activity at a young age can provide children with an opportunity to become engaged in their community, develop a sense of inclusion amongst their peers, enhance self-esteem, engage in healthy lifestyle behaviours, and build life skills such as social, communication and team work skills. Our nation is faced with an increase in societal problems that affect young persons – teenage pregnancy, drugs, crime, obesity, lifestyle diseases.
The TTOC seeks to address these problems by using the positive power of sport to aid in the development of our young people and create an environment which is both positive and nurturing. Through the involvement of the entire community the program focuses on integrating sustainable sports programming into the lives of children by working with and through the school system.
The TTOC is focused on developing a sustainable program to ensure the project will have lasting benefits in the community. The TTOC is a strong advocate of the power of sport and the role that it can play in promoting a culture of peace. We seek to make a difference.
