More about Safe Stamp
Sport is well recognized as a powerful medium that can potentially contribute to many aspects of the development of children. However, it is also well recognized that sport and the sport environment can equally contribute to many negative outcomes. If we want to ensure that children enjoy the positive benefits of sport participation we must seek to provide a child-friendly environment that facilitates positive sport experiences.
The Safe Stamp project is designed to make sport safer for children in the Caribbean by educating coaches, administrators, teachers, parents and community volunteers who work with children in sport. The Safe Stamp project also works with governments and sporting organizations in the Caribbean to develop safeguarding and child protection policies and guidelines that are the foundation for safer sport environments for children.
A key part of the Safe Stamp project is a registry of coaches and organizations that meet the Safe Stamp criteria for working with children in sport which is designed to help parents make informed choices and to lower the risk of inappropriate individuals infiltrating the youth sport environment.
